Class in for Tuesday 10/21- Important Info.

10/21 – Class Critique #1 

*Students will bring to class and display one piece of their current or previous work for a group critique and discussion with our classmates. We will discuss the critique process and how it can be used for reflective and structured writing. This is mandatory.

*DUE: Written Artist Interview (bring a printed hard copy.) if you have not handed it in already.

*DUE: Personal Manifesto is Due. This will be posted onto our class blog under Manifesto. (So far, there are only two posts for this)

**10/25Saturday – Museum / Gallery Visit. Class Trip to NYC. Meeting time TBA. Let us choose as a group an exhibition(s) in NYC. You will post a written reaction to the exhibition(s) we view on our class blog.

  1. Not sure if this counted when I first posted it, so I’ll post it again (just in case.)

    The square paintings were nice, but I’m not too crazy about squares. I find geometric shapes to be cold, but I really like organic lines. Anyway, I did love the textures that the paintings had; the textures gave the paintings a nice shadowy look. You would have to get close to the paintings to appreciate the real/true beauty of rectangles. If you got really close to them, you could actually see the different layers, and the cracking paint gives it a nice texture.

    For the photos, it gives you insight on how NYC looked long ago. Some things changed a lot, while others didn’t change at all. The photo “El, 2nd and 3rd Avenue Lines” looks like a place in Brooklyn that my mom takes me to. I wonder if it’s the same place?
